Fanchento Kung Fu (Way of the Cobra) is a non-classical form of Kung Fu which is heavily influenced by the principles of Jeet Kune Do (the art of the late master Bruce Lee). It is an art that is alive and dynamic.
The training is geared towards simplicity aimed at eliminating excess movement and energy. The techniques and exercises are strictly for self-defence and to develop the student's individual attributes. The techniques are simple, direct and functional and are applied with economy of motion which makes them fast, powerful and non-telegraphic.
Fanchento techniques come from all of the four principles of fighting:
• Kicking and Punching
• Grappling and Locking
• Throws
• Weapons
Fanchento teaches you to attain body wisdom (to act instinctively without thought) through experience and self-reflection.
Fanchento is self-mastery through focus of energy to one point.
Fanchento as an art is based on a set of principles and each teacher and practitioner is encouraged to express those principles in his/ her own way. Further we strongly encourage an open and inclusive attitude to training which means we draw on a variety of other martial arts and psycho- physical systems both eastern and western that encourage personal growth.
